The massive presences
of everything not there.
Even angels in blue cower
and worry their wings.

This came to me as a pink
Christmas ornament,
round and with a sprinkle

of silver glitter, trying
to be falling snow. Country
church, jutting steeple a

perfection only symbols
and rituals inscribed into
time and movement can be.

Tell me, globe, where am I?
Is it a day or a road or empty
tissue wadded in a box?
Where is it silver snow falls?

The massive presences
of everything not there.
Even angels in blue cower
and worry their wings.
